The Tribune (NZ) - - OPINION -

With the recent child abduction and near abduction here in Palmerston North, an old memory of when my children were little came to mind.

Parents and locals put their hands up to participate in the safety of our kiddies and were screened before being accepted.

These people were given a large yellow daisy to stick on their letterboxes. Schools would educate the children that if they were in trouble for whatever reason, that they ran to one of these safe houses.

Why don’t we reinstate this old method again?
