A new community environmental festival is being planned for the city. Inspired by 2015’s Palmy Beyond Petrol event run by the Palmerston North City Environment Trust (PNCET) and Environment Network Manawatu, EnviroFest will run from October 2 – 23.
The trust is seeking input from local environmental groups, sustainable businesses or other interested parties. The festival will run over three weeks so a wide range of events can be incorporated.
‘‘The festival is for the whole community, so we invite anyone who has ideas for what they would like to see happen to share their ideas with us,’’ says PNCET’s Georgina Morrison. ‘‘We have lots of things planned already, but there is room for more.’’
Georgina wants to know about any existing or proposed activities, sustainability skills people would like to learn, or particular speakers they would like to hear.
The programme is in development until the end of March, so get your ideas in soon.’’
PNCET has also opened its first large grants funding round for the year, and is seeking applications from local groups or individuals with innovative environmental projects.
Application forms and criteria are at pncet.org.nz/ Applications close April 15. Email for EnviroFest details: email@example.com
