WELL COOKED BOOK

The Tribune (NZ) - - CONVERSATIONS -

I have a cookbook from my late mother, Audrey Mangnall. The recipe book was a fundraising effort of Fielding Kindergarten in 1964, when Margery Cobbe was chairman.

Sponsors had two, three or four digit phone numbers then, and some were still on a ‘‘partline’’, and include Eades, Metcalfes, Mandahl, Dewe Electrical, Penheys, Pivacs, and many more.

Recurring names of recipe providers are Stoddart, D. Maher, A Dermer, J Holly, R Stevenson, R Chisnall, B. Heinemann, N. Denham, B and MCobbe among others.

The book lost its cover years ago, and now dog-earred and has rusty staples, but I still use it!
