Luxurious pampering where it’s all about you
You don’t have to spend a million to feel like a million dollars, you can simply call into Figure 8 Beauty and Massage Day Spa in Awapuni Village and book in for one of their fabulous facials or spa treatments along with a luxuriously relaxing massage.
Figure 8 Beauty and Massage Day Spa opened in February with one clear aim: to make everyone of their clients feel special, says owner Catherine Marshall.
‘‘We want to provide a quiet haven where clients feel comfortable and relaxed and at the same time enable both client and therapist to make a connection on a personal level.’’
Catherine’s background is in the health services, firstly as a nurse and latterly in project management.
‘‘I have since taken courses in massage and felt it was the right time in my life to open a beauty clinic and, as I have a connection to Awapuni, having lived a part of my life in the area, it seemed appropriate to open up here in the village.
‘‘I also felt it was essential to have fully trained and qualified professional staff, while at the same time it was important that the girls were passionate about beauty therapy. While all of the girls provide all treatments they do have specialised interests and for Tasha it’s skincare, including advanced skin care, while for Bianca, her passion is massage and spa treatments and Charmaine’s passion is make up, with a special interest in Advanced Electrotherapy for the treatment of superficial red veins on the face.’’
For skin care, Figure 8 uses Medik8 which is a medical grade product, blending research, science and nature together to produce a range of products that are effective in specifically treating a number of skin care issues including pigmentation, redness, blemishes, aging and dryness. These are used in the clinic as well as available as retail products to enable the clients to continue their treatments at home.
The Figure 8 facials take about an hour and prior to your facial Tasha will have a complete consultation to find out what the client’s skin issues are. She will then provide the client with one of her wonderful facials starting with a double cleanse, followed by gentle exfoliation or dermabrasion. Then you will receive a relaxing facial massage and luxury mask treatment, ending with some delicious facial serums to make you feel fabulous.
In the few months since opening, Figure 8 Massage and Spa treatments have already proved popular. Bianca says she offers a range of services including Indian head massage, Swedish remedial, reflexology and hot stone as well as a number of full body treatments which can be personalised to suit the client and she adds, ‘‘Massage is such a wonderfully calming experience both for the client as well as for the therapist. Our focus is not just on working the muscles and removing knots so much as what is going on inside, emotionally. So the massage is an excellent time for the client to become completely relaxed both physically and emotionally.’’
Figure 8 Beauty and Massage Day Spa also offer a number of packages as well as vouchers and currently have a Mother’s Day promotion with a choice of services including their Figure 8 detoxifying spa treatment with complimentary brow shape and tint, a Medik8 Essential facial with complimentary brow shape and tint or a back, neck and shoulder massage with complimentary eye trio. Any of which would be a fantastic gift for mum.
