Treat mum at La Pa­tio on May 8

Sam Hapeta loves Mother’s Day. It’s the oc­ca­sion when he can treat his mother to a de­li­cious Mother’s Day meal but it’s one of the busiest days of his life. His fam­ily cafe caters for nearly 200 peo­ple with their spe­cial Mother’s Day lunch and din­ner menu.

This year on May 8 he’s go­ing to do both.

Sam is treat­ing Leonie, his mum, to the finest Mother’s Day meal he can pro­vide as well be­ing part of a team that cel­e­brates Mother’s Day with the best cui­sine in the city.

La Pa­tio Cafe´ at Ho­tel Coach­man is again host­ing its leg­endary Mother’s Day hot roast and dessert for $35 at lunch (11-2pm) and din­ner (6-10pm).

‘‘We pro­vide a spe­cial Mother’s Day menu so mums don’t have to cook at home and clean up af­ter­wards. In­stead we will spoil her at La Pa­tio,’’ Sam says.

‘‘We plan it as a fam­ily oc­ca­sion so her near­est and dear­est can come and be part of our Mother’s Day treat.’’

The ap­petis­ing menu starts with scrummy bread rolls fol­lowed by a salad se­lec­tion in­clud­ing ev­ery­thing from fancy let­tuce, cherry toma­toes, feta and olives to har­lequin coleslaw, red and white gourmet potato salad, green beans and seeded mus­tard.

The hot se­lec­tion con­sists of tan­ta­lis­ing mush­room penne pasta car­bonara, a roast veg­etable med­ley and steamed sum­mer veg­eta­bles with olive oil in­fused with lime.

Then to ac­com­pany the sal­ads and veg­eta­bles, La Pa­tio’s Head of Kitchen, Rus­sell Chap­ple, will pre­pare tasty An­gus roasted scotch fil­let with York­shire pud­dings and honey mus­tard honey glazed cham­pagne ham on the bone.

But the Mother’s Day treat doesn’t end there.

Guests have a choice of choco­late and or­ange truf­fle torte served with choco­late sauce or fruits of for­est cheese­cake served with rasp­berry coulis for dessert.

And just for mum there’s a choco­late gift to com­plete the meal.

Sam, who is sales co­or­di­na­tor at Ho­tel Coach­man, also rec­om­mends a wide se­lec­tion of spark­ing and still wine, beer and fruit juice to ac­com­pany the Mother’s Day treat. Tra­di­tion­ally La Pa­tio’s fa­mous Mother’s Day meal at­tracts peo­ple from out of town.

Sam re­minds them that they don’t have to go home af­ter­wards.

Ho­tel Coach­man is of­fer­ing a spe­cial dis­counted rate of $125 for those who want to stay over in one of their com­fort­able rooms and travel home the fol­low­ing day.

How­ever, Sam says book­ings for the Mother’s Day lunch and din­ner are es­sen­tial.
