Desexy Month needs you
June is Desexy Month, and the sole Manawatu member of national organisation Kitty Cat Fixers is looking for volunteer collectors.
Kath Bryan says she wants anyone with an interest in animal welfare, particularly cats, to get involved.
Since 2011, the registered charity’s goal has been to reduce the number of unwanted stray cats and kittens through assisting catowning families who struggle financially, to de-sex their felines.
Initially cat owners pay $30 towards the procedure, with Kitty Cat Fixers picking up the balance, which can be anywhere between $70 and $130.
Post-surgery, the owner repays the group at a mutually agreed amount.
The group has so far helped desex 1153 cats.
For the fourth annual appeal in June, Kath has organised collection points in Palmerston North, Feilding, Sanson, Levin and Whanganui.
