The Tribune (NZ) - - WELCOME -

Kiwi music icon Suzanne Lynch, is the (ahem) lynch-pin of Operatunity’s latest Daytime Concert. Quintessentially Kiwi is a whirlwind tour through the great New Zealand songbook – the memorable New Zealand music we all grew up with, live!

At fourteen years old, as half of the duo The Chicks with her sister, Suzanne had her first album released and the duo spent the next five years performing regularly on the New Zealand television music programme C’Mon. In 1970, Suzanne became a solo performer, was a resident performer on Happen Inn and was voted NZ Entertainer of the Year. In 1972 she won a Loxene Golden Disc Award.

For Quintessentially Kiwi, Suzanne is joined by ‘‘The 3 Kiwi Blokes’’ – expat Palmy person Karl Perigo, Robert Enari and Alex Milligan – and a live band, as they pay tribute to some of New Zealand’s most treasured entertainers – Ray Columbus, the Topp Twins, Maria Dallas, John Rowles, Billy T. James, Fred Dagg, and Peter Posa among them.

Theses are songs that have earned their own special place in New Zealand history and in our hearts. From 1949’s Blue Smoke to Sir Howard Morrison, here are the hits along with the banter.

Quintessentially Kiwi is at 11am next Wednesday May 11, at Life Church, 590 Featherston St, and includes a light lunch afterwards where audience members will have a chance to chat with the artists. Call toll free 0508 266 237 to book, or online at daytimeconcerts.co.nz
