PAYING THE PRICE COST OF LIVING HIGH
Re Kevin Reilly, Conversations, Tribune, April 27. If the person on the tenancy agreement is prepared to allow the dregs of the Earth to smoke P in their tenancy then yes they should be prepared to pay that price.
The law to charge tenants for the clean-up of the property should absolutely not be changed. Who should be expected to pay this?
This is just another example of ‘‘Oh, the poor criminals of New Zealand’’.

Watching Auckland house prices soar, affordable only to wealthy overseas buyers; seeing increasing numbers of homeless people and growing numbers in our jails, you can’t help by think we are on the road to hell.
Beneficiaries in the past year received a zero increase in their payments. That means the amount they received in March 2015 they will need to survive on until March 2017.
The cost of living has increased in the last 12 months, and will in the next 12 months.
I suppose jail is the best option for many.

On behalf of everyone at the Heart Foundation, I would like to thank all those in Palmerston North who generously gave up their time to volunteer during our Annual Appeal.
As a charity, we simply cannot continue our life-saving work without the support of volunteers throughout the country. This is especially true during our busy Annual Appeal, when we rely even more on ‘many hands making light work’.
Palmerston North raised a total of $5136.20. To everyone who collected donations in the streets, and to all those who raised funds in their workplaces, schools and early childhood education services, thank you.
A huge thanks also to everyone who dug deep and made a donation during our Appeal. Your generosity means we can fund more vital research, support people with heart disease, promote heart-healthy lifestyles and advance cardiac care in this country.
Lastly, we are extremely grateful to the business owners who allowed us to collect donations outside their premises.
Thanks again to everyone for making the Heart Foundation’s Annual Appeal a success.
If you have not been able to make a donation yet, it’s not too late. Call us on 0800 830 100 or go to www.heartfoundation.org.nz/ donate
