The 2016/17 proposed Annual PlaPlan has now been consulted on and was adopted on 20 June. Comments were received from 207 people and/or organisations with issues ranging from additional festivals and events, public transport, cycling and walking, parking changes, Massey University Refectory, improving the health of the river. SOME POINTS TO NOTE: • Most submitters supported the Council’s plans for
these areas. • 57 of the 207 submissions were presented over eight hearing sessions by people/organisations who wanted to talk about their submissions in person. • Those that made a submission, whether they attended a hearing or not, will receive a formal response to their submission based on the decisions made by the Council. • A summary of “Responses to Submissions” has been prepared, which details the Council’s decisions about the issues raised in all of the submissions it received. • For the 2016/17 year the total rates required will increase by 3.9%. City Council rates on the average value single unit residential property will increase by $175 over last year. • In some parts of the City land values have increased significantly – this means rates for them will increase by more than the average.
