Les Miserables star to perform
One of Australia’s top musical theatre singers is performing in Palmerston North this Friday.
Silvie Paladino has starred as both Eponine and Fantine from Les Miserables on London’s West End and toured Australasia in the role of Eponine to critical acclaim.
Silvie, who will appear with the Wellington Citadel Band at the Salvation Army, Church Street, has established herself as one of Australia’s most versatile and talented entertainers over the last 30 years.
Her credits also include Jeannie in Hair, Grizabella in the Australian and Asian tour of CATS, Ellen in Miss Saigon, Donna in Mamma Mia!, Rita in Sideshow Alley, Anna in The King and I and Florence in Chess.
Her other Australasian achievements include her one-woman show Silvie Paladino Sings Streisand and, among her CD titles, she lists On My Own and When You Believe with the Melbourne Staff Band of the Salvation Army.
Silvie is a regular face to New Zealanders singing at the Australian Rugby League and Football League Grand Finals, the Boxing Day Cricket Test and a concert in Beijing as part of the 2013 Asian Pacific Special Olympics.
She has made regular guest appearances with symphony orchestras in Australia and performed for theatrical composers Stephen Schwartz and Stephen Sondheim.
In July last year Silvie performed in London for the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Salvation Army and, in her visit to Palmerston North on July 29, she’ll be accompanied a top New Zealand Salvation Army band.
Silvie performs on Friday at the Salvation Army at 7pm. Tickets from www.dashtickets.co.nz.
