Watson’s jack of all trades

The Tribune (NZ) - - WATSON INTEGRITY CELEBRATING 20 YEARS -

If the friendly face of Dave Stockley behind the counter in Watson Integrity in Feilding looks familiar, chances are you’ve also seen him behind the counter of the Palmerston North office.

Dave describes himself as jack of all trades when it comes to working at Watsons and that’s hardly surprising as he’s been with the company for 10 years, the last five in the Feilding office.

‘‘I’ve worn many hats,’’ says Dave, who happened to be working in the Palmerston North office at the time he was interviewed, filling in for a staff member who was on leave.

‘‘I know all the systems so I’ve worked on reception, in marketing, producing ads for the Property Weekly and in property management.’’

He’s also the in-house computer guru. Dave says IT is a hobby and he’s always happy to help out.

But no matter what area Dave works in for him the job is all about the people. ‘‘I enjoy seeing happy people.’’

Dave’s enthusiasm for the job was recognised when he won the Shining Star Award of Excellence for best employee in the Feilding Excellence in Business Awards a few years ago.

‘‘I enjoy looking after customers and try to make them smile and enjoy their dealings with Watson Integrity.’’

Watsons is a family firm with every team member treated as part of the family, but in Dave’s case this particularly true as Marcus Watson is married to Dave’s sister Rachel. ‘‘I was working in sales administration in Auckland when my sister told me Watsons receptionist was leaving. I had a phone interview and got the job. I love it here.’’

You’re likely to find the friendly face of Dave Stockley behind reception at either the Feilding or Palmerston North branch of Watson Integrity.
