Quality hairdressing services at affordable prices

The Tribune (NZ) - - YOUR BODY -

Choosing the right hairdresser can be quite a daunting task. However, if you like a warm and friendly atmosphere alongside passionate and talented stylists then all you have to do is call into Hairo’s on Russell, where Heather Olsen and her team have been providing quality hair styling services to the whole family for over 23 years.

Recently Heather reduced her days down to Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and Polly Cornejo has taken on the role of salon manager and, along with Hayley Stewart, continues to provide the same friendly service to all their clients.

‘‘Heather has created a fantastic salon atmosphere where all our clients know they can relax and have a friendly chat to their stylists without feeling awkward. It’s also great when clients meet other people they know and get the chance to catch up with them as well. This gives the whole salon a warm and intimate feel which the clients love,’’ says Polly.

Polly and Hayley both work fulltime in the salon, Tuesdays to Saturdays, and Hayley is currently preparing to sit her final exams later this year. She is currently receiving advanced cut training from Robyn Collins as well as help with her ‘finals’ preparation. Robyn runs her own training business from Wanganui and was named Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation (HITO) Trainer of The Year in 2012.

Hayley says Robyn is an excellent trainer. ’’Not only is she great with the technical aspects of hairdressing but Robyn also helps build your confidence so you feel capable of tackling even the most complex of services.’’

The current trends in colouring; balayage and ombres, do require a great deal of skill to get them looking perfect and Hayley says that one of her greatest passions in hairdressing is colouring.

‘‘I love making all my clients look good and feel good.’’

Hayley has an August special on with a colour and cut from $70 and ladies’ cuts for $25.

Winter hair can be a major problem at this time of year and Polly says that it’s important to use a salon quality moisturising shampoo and maybe a trim to get rid of the dry ends. ’’If you’re having a colour it’s always good to use a treatment to keep the hair in good condition and we always keep a good range of retail products from Wella and Argan Oil in the salon, so our clients can keep their hair looking great.’’

While Heather is working fewer days at the salon she is providing an extra service for her clients. ’’If a client is ill or can’t get into the salon then I will go and visit them, either at their home or wherever they are being cared for. This is mainly for cuts but I can also provide other hairdressing services if required,’’ says Heather.

So if you’re looking for a family friendly, affordable hair salon with professional and skilful stylists then just give Polly and Hayley a call on (06) 3548455 or pop in and see them at 58 Russell Street, Palmerston North for your next quality hairstyle.

The friendly and helpful team at Hairo’s On Russell, from left, Polly, Hayley and Heather, will make every day a great hair day.
