The Tribune (NZ) - - NEWS -

Feilding music stalwart Peter Ellery is directing the Manawatu Concert Band in a show on Saturday.

Peter Ellery, a stalwart of the Feilding music scene for more than 30 years, is returning to his musical roots and bringing the Manawatu Concert Band with him.

Formerly of Feilding Brass, the musical director of this awardwinning outfit, is moulding them into a group with distinctive Ellery style.

While supporting and competing for many years at the Feilding Brass Festival of Bands, the Manawatu Concert Band has never held its own Feilding concert. That’s about to be rectified.

‘‘With many band members being local such as co-conductor StephenWildbore, they are keen to performto family, friends and the wider community,’’ Ellery said.

The Manawatu Concert Band presents In the Mood! at the Feilding Civic Centre this Saturday, August 6 at 7.30pm. The wideranging programme features big band numbers from the 1940s including We’ll Meet Again, Lili Marlene, and Glenn Miller’s In The Mood.

Add film themes from Star Trek, Chicken Run and Grease, and Feilding-based male voice choir The Old Crotchets, for an evening of classic music and entertainment.

Tickets are available from band members, Eventfinda, the Feilding Information Centre, or cash sales at the door.
