With some pretty dense coverage of the local government elections lately, we thought this week we’d take a lighter look at the candidates and their billboard designs.
I’m no designer - you can see our Page 1 story for a designer’s point of view - but I think it’s time to think outside the rectangle, so to speak.
The signs end up becoming part of the city’s wallpaper during election time and candidates might need to mix things up a little if they want to get noticed.
It feels like they all follow the same template and I’d like to see them put some more thought into what makes them such outstanding candidates and show us their points of difference.
If they can’t be original with their signs, then why should we vote for them?
