Stage Door Cafe launches new menu
The arrival of September has meant Stage Door cafe owner Debbie Chadfield has supplemented her favourite dishes with a delicious spring and summer menu.
Debbie, who has owned the distinctive Stage Door cafe in King Street for two years next month, celebrates the seasons with a change of menu to augment the popular dishes that her customers enjoy all year round.
Debbie confirms the ever tantalising pork belly benedict, the very popular bubble and squeak, corn fritters, now with bacon avocado, camembert and aolli, and Stage Door’s legendary all day breakfasts will never be off the menu, but the time is right to introduce spring and summer salads and vegetables.
Two of the new dishes, available from this week, are the vegetarian green eggs, on toasted sourdough with halloumi cheese and salsa verde with the option of adding ham and braised pork belly with baby beetroot, cherry tomatoes, gourmet potatoes, green beans and apple cider jus. In addition are the popular, fresh summer Stage Door salads with your choice of either beef and feta, chicken and parsnip crisps or salmon and avocado.
Debbie has never regretted taking over Stage Door cafe nearly two years ago. ’’It’s been hard work building up the business and clientele, but I look forward to the challenge every day,’’ she says.
‘‘I’ve been in the profession for more than 15 years and my desire is to keep moving it forward.’’
Debbie describes Stage Door as a destination cafe so she wants to get its name and reputation ‘‘out there as the cafe of choice for Palmerston North people.’’
She encourages people to try Stage Door out, especially at weekends when the cafe is open both days.
Stage Door cafe has a BYO licence so people have the opportunity to bring their favourite wine or beer with them to enjoy with their meal.
To prove its reputation, Stage Door cafe is a finalist in two divisions of the Manawatu Hospitality Awards. It’s reached the final of Cafe or the Year and talented barista, Api Cox, is in the line-up for Barista of the Year. The announcements will be made on November 6. Debbie is delighted with the achievements to date.
‘‘It’s a recognition of the commitment my staff has made and a vindication of what I’ve set out to achieve over the last two years,’’ she says.
