Last chance for voters to make choice
With five days to go, local body votes were only trickling in.
At 3pm on Monday 11,275 votes, or returns from 20.7 percent of the 54,539 registered voters, had so far been received, according to the Palmerston North City Council website.
That’s slightly up on comparative returns five days out for 2013, when almost 39 per cent voted, but well down on 2010, when nearly 43 per cent turned out.
Voters need to get their STV selections for the city mayoralty, council and the District Health Board, and tick vote four Horizons Regional councillors by Saturday at midday.
Progress results for the will be made available from 7pm on Saturday.
‘‘The Council Chamber will open at 6.30pm, and will remain open until 7.30pm, or later if the announcement of results is delayed,’’ chief returning officer John Annabell said.
‘‘The progress results will include some of the voting documents returned to the council on the Saturday, but special votes will not be included.’’
Online coverage of the results will be at manawatustandard.co.nz.
