Quality and value for all

The Tribune (NZ) - - TERRACE END - Bob Watson

Spring is here and, with summer just around the corner, this is a great time to pop down to Gillespies Value House and buy your new summer wardrobe.

Gillespies have been providing quality, affordable clothing for over 55 years and are currently filling their racks ready for summer.

Owner Barry Gillespie says: ’’We have a great range of summer clothing including blouses, skirts, lightweight knitwear and the ever popular Aertex cotton and cotton blend shirts. These come in a range of sizes, colours and patterns to suit both ladies and gents.’’

Along with the new summer clothing, the new season’s range of Schranks and Givoni nightwear has arrived. Senior sales assistant Rae Harris says these are their most popular brands because of their quality and comfort.

‘‘The range includes nighties as well as dressing gowns and brunch coats, all in their classic designs and colours.’’

While their new season stock continues to arrive, Gillespies still has a number of sales racks with between 10 per cent and 50 per cent off the retail price. From dresses and skirts, knitwear, men’s and women’s casual wear and trousers, the choice is endless.

‘‘We also keep a good range of sizes in many of our clothing lines. For women we have sizes 10 to 26 and for men up to 6XL. We also go up to size 146 in men’s trousers and size 140 in jeans, while shirts go up to size 52,’’ says Barry.

The sale also extends to their complete range of knitting wools and haberdashery. So if there are repairs to be made, Gillespies have the needle and thread, and buttons and zips to tend to the wear and tear.

Without getting too far ahead of ourselves, summer school uniforms are now in stock for St James, St Peters, PNINS and PNGHS. Rae says it only takes a small deposit to put these on layby and by paying a small amount regularly they’ll be paid off well in time for the start of the new school year.

Barry adds that they have no hard and fast rules when it comes to lay-bys, which makes paying the clothing off so much easier. It’s also important to order your uniform early if you have a particularly small or large child to ensure you get the correct size, plus Gillespies can also arrange personalised printed or embroidered name tags for your new school uniforms.

Just browsing through Gillespies, it’s amazing how much clothing they have which is hard to find in any other clothing store, and the bowling fraternity is also well catered for, with a complete range of the traditional whites; trousers, shirts and the essential lightweight waterproof overtrousers and jackets, which are great for competition play during the unpredictable spring weather.

With their emphasis on comfort, quality and value for money, It’s not hard to see why Gillespies is a popular choice for fitting out the entire family.
