Oktober Feast in The Square
Break out the lederhosen, this week’s Food Truck Thursday is going Bavarian.
Hard on the heels of September’s ‘spring fling’, when hundreds of hungry revellers crowded The Square and bade ‘‘winter, bye bye’’, this month’s themed food truckers’ pop-up kitchen is Oktober Feast.
Streetfood Concepts’ Karli Mitchell said Thursday’s 5pm to 9pm al fresco food frenzy will provide a great excuse for patrons to dress up.
‘‘What we’re going to do is recreate the joviality, flavour and fun of OktoberFest in The Square, with a crowd of people enjoying the atmosphere together, long tables, lighting support, and other Bavarian style decorations.’’
Could that possibly extend to yodelling and traditional schuhplatter dancing?
Maybe there’ll be some brass oompah styles going down, but certainly there should be braces, knee socks, feathered hats, dirndl dresses, blouses, ribbons and plaits, and there will be live music.
‘‘We’re encouraging people to embrace the spirit of the evening and dress up in Bavarian costume.
‘‘There’ll be a great prize pack for the most impressive get-up, with the winner announced at 8pm.’’
Updates to the feast will be posted on the Facebook event page.
This Thursday’s Food Truck Frenzy will bring a whol new alfresco dining experience to The Square.
