Heritage Trust 2017 Calendar

The Tribune (NZ) - - SAVOUR -

Once again the Palmerston North Heritage Trust has produced their annual calendar and this year it showcases ‘Our Animal Heritage’. With a pastoral based economy, animals have long played an important role in Manawatū farming life; as livestock and as workers. As well, certain animals are important purely for the company and pleasure they provide. The 13 historical images included in this year’s calendar capture some of the animals who have been so important to us, in a variety of ways. The Palmerston North Heritage Trust was set up in 1997 under the auspices of the Palmerston North City Council. The Trust’s main objective is to encourage public awareness of the need to develop, maintain and preserve archival material and other records of historical significance connected to the City of Palmerston North and its surrounding region. The production of an annual calendar, using local historical images, is just one of the activities undertaken by the Trust.

The calendars are available from the Heritage Team, 2nd Floor, Central Library, 4 The Square, Palmerston North for $10 each.
