Summer healthcare is right on your doorstep

The Tribune (NZ) - - YOUR BODY -

Summer is on its way and while we all look forward to the warm sunny days ahead, this is not always the best season for many who suffer from allergy and hayfever symptoms. Fortunately there are a large number of remedies available and Vogel Street Pharmacy, in the Rossmont Shopping Centre, has all you need to keep those rashes and sneezes under control.

Pharmacy owner Nelson Rodrigues is both a registered pharmacist and fully trained in complementary medicines.

‘‘We stock a range of medications suitable for allergy sufferers as some are more suited to a person’s particular complaint than others. For general hayfever we currently have a special on all purpose allergy medication of only $2 for a pack.

Vogel Street Pharmacy carries a wide selection of both pharmaceutical and complementary medications to assist in building immunity and boosting energy levels. Nelson says they often have people calling in asking for medical advice.

‘‘These are usually mild but annoying complaints like skin rashes, upset stomachs and other seasonal complaints. We can give advice as to what we believe may be the problem and suggest remedies but if we feel the complaint is more serious we will definitely recommend they see a doctor.’’

As well as providing the usual pharmacy services, Vogel Street Pharmacy is the local Lotto Shop and also stocks an extensive range of beauty products, women’s and men’s toiletries and fragrances as well as orthopaedic footwear, children’s toys, novelty items, gift packs and a great selection of medicated hair care products, as well as all you need for summer at the beach, including shoulder scarves and sarongs, beach footwear, tanning lotions, sunscreens and their current special of only $14.99 for invisible zinc

Other services include blood pressure checks, and if Christmas is feeling a little too stressful, Nelson says they will be offering free blood pressure checks over this period. They also hold regular ‘Mole Check Clinics’ where they work in conjunction with the nurses from Total Healthcare, and plan to hold the next clinic early next year, so just give them a call on 06 3551905 to confirm the date.

The pharmacy also provides ear piercing, passport photos and a fax and photocopying service. Plus, not only can you have your prescription faxed through but they can also take prescriptions via email at vogelstreetphar

‘‘All a person has to do is send a screen shot or scan of their prescription to our pharmacy and later in the day they can call in, with their original script, and pick up their prescription without having to wait. This is handy for people who have seen the doctor earlier in the day and gone back to work, they then know they can pick up their prescription straight after work,’’ says Nelson. ’’We also offer a free blister pack service where there is no extra charge for their first month’s supply.’’

Nelson adds that they give a 10 pe cent discount to Grey Power card holders plus, for all customers they give a $5 voucher for every spend over $80, and this includes both their spend on prescriptions as well as any other items they may purchase, but this does not include Lotto products.

Another popular service Nelson provides at the pharmacy is the discreet and confidential consultation specifically for men who want to enjoy an active love life.

‘‘We provide a prescription medication, and to make sure the medication is suitable for the customer, the consultation covers heart health and any other factors that may impact on them taking this medication.’’

Vogel Street Pharmacy is open Mondays to Fridays from 8.30am till 5.30pm, with late night Wednesdays till 6.30pm and on Saturdays they are open from 9am till 7pm.

‘‘We find our customers really appreciate our opening times and that we don’t charge any additional ‘out of hours’ prescription charges. The range and variety of products and services we provide is also extremely popular plus, in the run up to Christmas, we will wrap your presents for free.’’
