The Tribune (NZ) - - NEWS -

While certainly not the worstaffected in the country, Palmerston North was still shook up in this week’s earthquake.

Most of the city’s residents woke to their homes creaking and shaking, with that feeling in the back of our minds that somewhere else was feeling it a lot worse.

With power outages and minor damage reported in our community, it’s a good reminder to make sure we have stocked up our emergency kits and secured all of our furniture and large items in our homes.

We are at Mother Nature’s mercy and we really never do know if or when it will happen to us, so taking every precaution should be at the top of our to-do lists this week.

I hope all of your loved ones are safe and well.

On another note, the eagle-eyes among you will have noticed my name has changed. I was married last weekend so I’m now Lisa Houston.
