Cafe says bring your own bubbles

Stage Door cafe´ in King Street is encouraging patrons to bring their bubbles to breakfast.

Christmas is a busy time of year for Stage Door as groups traditionally book tables to enjoy a festive breakfast and lunch.

Owner Debbie Chadfield reminds them that the cafe has a BYO licence and they can toast her delicious meals with a glass of bubbly.

While Stage Door is a mecca for surrounding parties Debbie says it can always cater for the individual or group who call in for a cup of coffee, order from the set menu or select from the cabinet.

Her spring/summer menu includes the ever tantalising pork belly benedict, the very popular bubble and squeak, corn fritters, now with bacon avocado, camembert and aioli as well as Stage Door’s legendary all day breakfasts.

However, with summer arriving tomorrow, Stage Door offers a house smoked salmon with a warm vegetable and potato salad and salsa Verdi.

Debbie has also brought back her sought-after summer salads. These delectable dishes come with options of beef and feta, tandoori chicken and poppadum shards and hot smoked salmon and avocado.

Christmas means decorations, both inside and out. Stage Door is ready to celebrate Christmas inside but it’s planning an exciting extension outdoors also.

Debbie is upgrading the King Street frontage with street furnishings such as planter boxes, umbrellas and more tables and chairs.

‘‘Over summer Kiwis like the sun and love to enjoy their food and refreshment outdoors. My team at Stage Door wants to provide that environment for them,’’ she says.

‘‘Providing an indoor/outdoor option, will attract passing patrons and add vibrancy to King Street.’’

Debbie took over the cafe just over two years ago. Since then she’s upgraded the interior of Stage Door – which she calls a destination cafe´ - and built up the business and clientele.

She already has plans for 2017 and, except for the statuary holidays over Christmas and New Year and Sundays, Debbie intends to stay open.

‘‘I want Stage Door to be the destination of choice over summer and throughout next year,’’ she says.

‘‘We have great parking, all day sun and we pride ourselves on offering quality food, service and hospitality that is second to none.’’
