The Tribune (NZ) - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE -

I think we’re so incredibly lucky to be able to welcome refugees, from all over the world, to our community.

The Rohingya ethnic group, from Myanmar, are the newest community to start fresh in our city.

The two families to settle here have fled from persecution as their land was taken over by military in Myanmar and they have seen and experienced terrible things we could never imagine happening here.

They now find themselves living in a very different world.

One that is peaceful, happy, welcoming and one we should all be proud of.

How lucky we are to live here in Palmerston North.

Our wonderful community initiatives, such as Palmy Rocks and the summer of DIY, just make it that much better.
