Windback Wednesday

The Tribune (NZ) - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE -

The Lidowas opened by Mayor G MRennie on 15 November 1966 – reported to be a beautifully sunny day. The eventwas a great success, with crowds of Palmerston North residents trying out the newpools, refreshment kiosk and general facilities. The inaugural swim in the newOlympicsized poolwas undertaken by a Commonwealth Games champion, but it is unknown who braved the diving board for the very first time. Manawatu Heritage has thousands of photographs like this one that shows the best of your region’s history.
