The Tribune (NZ) - - CONVERSATIONS -

I have to applaud our city council for putting on music concerts in The Square even if the money could be better spent on things that will benefit all of Palmerston North.

What I don’t applaud is how obnoxiously loud their concerts are, even more than 2km away it’s loud.

If I choose to go to see and hear the concerts all well and good, if I choose not, that’s when the issue arises.

I have had the option of not hearing removed, I’ve had my right to choose violated, I’ve had my right to peaceful enjoyment of my home as set out in the Tenancy Act, violated.

I’m not saying stop the concerts, I’m saying they don’t have to be heard 2, 3, 4 kms away, turn down the volume, it’s ridiculous.

It’s bad enough having to put up with the excessively noisy hillbilly banger racing called Speedway. Come on PNCC, start obeying your own laws and curb the excessive noise.

Al Winder, Palmerston North

Concerts in The Square are causing noisy trouble for residents.
