The Tribune (NZ) - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE -

It’s frustrating to hear that burglaries in our community are still rife.

As someone who has had their home burgled within the past few months, I know how heartbreaking and distressing it feels when someone invites themselves into your home and helps themselves to your property.

While the police and Neighbourhood Support do what they can to assist and try to catch the burglars, with so many cases in our city the investigation process can be long and often unfruitful.

It really does pay to listen to police advice and do what you can to protect your home and belongings. Make sure you always lock your doors and windows, don’t leave keys in the lock, watch out for your neighbours and let them watch out for you. If you can afford it, get an alarm system or security cameras fitted.

Just don’t think it won’t happen to you because it very well could.
