Bach, Han­del by stand­out en­sem­ble

New York’s Juil­liard School is among the world’s lead­ing and pres­ti­gious per­form­ing arts con­ser­va­to­ries.

Team the highly ac­com­plished 19-piece Juil­liard415 with Bach­meis­ter Masaaki Suzuki, and au­di­ences can ex­pect fire­works.

Suzuki heads an en­sem­ble that in­cludes a so­prano soloist, eight vi­o­lin­ists, two vi­ola play­ers, two cel­lists, a dou­ble bass player, a flautist, two oboeists, a bas­soon­ist and a harp­si­chord player.

With a rep­u­ta­tion for com­bin­ing youth­ful en­ergy with poise, pre­ci­sion and a unique lu­mi­nos­ity, Juil­liard415 is the his­tor­i­cal per­for­mance pro­gramme of The Juil­liard School, and pro­vided op­por­tu­ni­ties for grad­u­ate stu­dents to per­form with emi­nent early mu­sic mu­si­cians.

The two Bach pieces were writ­ten specif­i­cally to be per­formed by stu­dents, and next Wed­nes­day’s 7.30pm Re­gent on Broad­way Cham­ber Mu­sic New Zealand con­cert in­cludes a Pre­lude Se­ries pre­con­cert talk at 6.45pm with mem­bers of the en­sem­ble.
