Bach, Handel by standout ensemble
New York’s Juilliard School is among the world’s leading and prestigious performing arts conservatories.
Team the highly accomplished 19-piece Juilliard415 with Bachmeister Masaaki Suzuki, and audiences can expect fireworks.
Suzuki heads an ensemble that includes a soprano soloist, eight violinists, two viola players, two cellists, a double bass player, a flautist, two oboeists, a bassoonist and a harpsichord player.
With a reputation for combining youthful energy with poise, precision and a unique luminosity, Juilliard415 is the historical performance programme of The Juilliard School, and provided opportunities for graduate students to perform with eminent early music musicians.
The two Bach pieces were written specifically to be performed by students, and next Wednesday’s 7.30pm Regent on Broadway Chamber Music New Zealand concert includes a Prelude Series preconcert talk at 6.45pm with members of the ensemble.
