Early Christmas at Ashhurst market
The last monthly Ashhurst Community Market of the season will be going out on a high.
Relocated indoors at the Village Valley Centre, the market celebrates its last outing until October with a mid-winter Christmas theme, and several guest stalls from around Manawatu.
Market convenor Helen King said there would be a cafe area, a Christmas giveaway and live music.
‘‘This will be the final market of the season, with a hiatus taking place over July, August and September and the market returning in October to herald the spring, and hopefully the return of the good weather.’’
Along with the return of the market, October will see LEAP (The Society for the Local Economy of Ashhurst and Pohangina Incorporated) launch a local business directory specific to Ashhurst and Pohangina.
It’s a project made possible in partnership with Palmerston North City Council via a kind donation from the Local Initiatives Fund.
The directory will be distributed to all residents and will be available at central locations, and online from late 2017 on the LEAP website, which is currently under construction.
There will be no cost to any business or community organisation that wants to be featured.
Enquiries and stall registrations for the Saturday, June 10 market in the Village Valley Centre from 12pm to 3pm are through Helen King firstname.lastname@example.org, 027 918 855.
The Ashhurst market has moved indoors for autumn, and celebrates a midwinter Christmas on Saturday.
