Just Zilch, the city’s free food charity, has turned 6 and what a productive six years it has been.

While it’s sad to know that this is a volunteer service organisation that is really needed here in Palmerston North, and even more discouraging to see the need increasing, it’s a relief to know that our community has access to this wonderful charity.

It’s people like Just Zilch founder Rebecca Culver, and all the volunteers involved, that we really have to thank for their hard work and dedication.

This week is National Volunteer Week and it seems an apt time to be celebrating the mark organisations like this have made on our community.

There are many organisations, services and events that simply wouldn’t exist or happen without volunteers.

So thank you to all of those who dedicate their time to improving our community and making it a great place to live.
