Eyes – with more than 800,000 votes, the largest in the show’s his­tory – Mullen is the ex­cep­tion to the say­ing ‘‘ac­cept no im­i­ta­tions.’’

Eyes, Mullen has toured the world with his breath­tak­ing show. His un­canny vo­cal re­sem­blance to Fred­die Mer­cury has en­thralled peo­ple through­out the UK, USA, Europe, South Africa and now New Zealand.

It has even im­pressed the sur­viv­ing mem­bers of Queen. Mullen was per­son­ally in­vited by the band’s gui­tarist, Brian May, to at­tend the Queen and Paul Rodgers Show.

One Night of Queen, per­formed by Gary Mullen and The Works, is a spec­tac­u­lar live con­cert, recre­at­ing the look, sound, pomp and show­man­ship of ar­guably the great­est rock band of all time. Their con­cert will fea­ture hits such as I Want to Break Free, A Kind of Magic, We Will Rock You and, of course, Bo­hemian Rhap­sody.

Re­view­ers around the world have raved about Mullen’s like­ness to the late Fred­die Mer­cury. The Press in Christchurch wrote ‘‘Last night I would prob­a­bly have be­lieved that the band per­form­ing were the real Queen and that Mullen was the real Fred­die Mer­cury if I had not been aware that he died in 1991.’’
