At the heart of healthcare for 35 years

The Tribune (NZ) - - YOUR BODY -

Grant Irvine Pharmacy, on Albert St in Palmerston North, has been serving the community for 35 years and over that time they have built up a strong rapport with customers and clients.

Pharmacy owner Grant Irvine says: ‘‘I believe it is important that we develop trust and confidence with our customers as they are relying on us to provide essential medications to improve their health and well-being.

‘‘We are not only providing a prescription service but we also become a significant part of our customers overall healthcare.’’

This also includes pharmacy-only medication and Grant says building a trusting relationship enables its pharmacists to discuss with the customer the correct use and the efficacy of these medications, as well as provide advice on their general health and wellbeing.

‘‘With all our services we do not add any extra charges over and above the Government prescription taxes.

‘‘We also have no after hour’s fees and do not add charges for receiving faxed prescriptions. In fact we see the ability for customers to have their prescriptions faxed through as a real benefit. With the advantage being that by the time you have left the doctors surgery and driven round to Albert Street, your prescription will be ready and waiting, and it doesn’t matter who your doctor is or where he is located,’’ says Grant.

Along with the fax service, Grant Irvine Pharmacy also has a drop-off depot in Ashhurst, where customers can arrange to have their prescriptions delivered to The Lotto Four Square.

‘‘This is a free service, and one which makes it so much easier for patients who can have their prescription faxed to us directly from their doctor’s and then we will deliver them to the Ashhurst depot where they can be picked up the next evening.’’

Grant Irvine Pharmacy also has a private consultation room, and Grant says they provide emergency contraception, which is free for New Zealand residents who are under 25.

Keeping track of medications can sometimes be a nightmare, especially for carers who are looking after the person. For people who are on a number of medications Grant Irvine Pharmacy provides a full blister packing service. Charges are kept to a minimum and start at only $3 for up to a one-month supply; customers have the convenience of the packaging as well as making it easier for people (and carers) to ensure the correct medications are taken at the right time each day.

As well as general pharmaceutical products, first aid supplies and cosmetics, along with a full range of vitamin and mineral supplements, Grant Irvine Pharmacy also stocks a wide range of giftware including toiletries and perfumes, children’s toys and greetings cards. They also have the best priced passport photo service in town, where you can get 8 quality photos for $11. These photos are suitable for New Zealand and international passports as well as visas, firearms and drivers licences.

‘‘We like to provide a number of useful services and stock many everyday items that customers may use on a regular basis,’’ Grant says.

‘‘Plus we’ll often have specials on certain items throughout the year.’’
