The original Blair Witch Project cost US$60,000 to make, it grossed US$250 million and spawned the ‘found footage’ genre. Seventeen years on, Blair Witch is a direct sequel, where the brother of a woman who went missing in the first film goes back to the scene after seeing a YouTube video which convinces him she’s still alive. Times change though and what was scary in 1999 seems sort of uninspiring today. ★★★
