The Young Messiah

-

Starring Sean Bean, Vincent Walsh. Director Cyrus Nowrasteh.

This one is definitely for the faithful. It takes a look at the life of a young Jesus when, as a seven year old, he begins to appreciate he is different from other kids – after all how many of them can cure their sick relatives or bring a bird back from the dead? However, while it is easy to mock, this is a film that has its moments despite a total lack of drama. Sean Bean might turn in a standout performance as a Roman soldier sent to kill the young Messiah – but everyone knows he is doomed to fail. Still, as one critic said, every hero deserves a back story and you don’t get more heroic than the son of God.
