Sausage Party Sky Premiere, 8.30pm Voices Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig. Not since Ted has there been an R-rated comedy that serves up laugh after laugh like this. It follows the adventures of Frank, a talking sausage who lives in a world where all food has a personality and lives for the day that humans take them home to the ‘promised land’. Filthy, funny, but also strangely thought provoking, it is definitely not one for the kids or those who are easily offended. ★★★

Iron Man TVNZ 2, 8.50pm

Starring Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jon Favreau. This is without a doubt Robert Downey Jr’s movie. While American blockbusters often rely on runaway action, special effects and sheer visual impact to overwhelm their audience into submission, Iron Man also succeeds on the strength of its lead actor’s performance. Downey Jr himself has been quoted as saying that the challenge of the role was “making a wealthy, establishmentarian, weapons-manufacturing, hard-drinking, womaniser ... into a character who is likeable and a hero”. Rounding out the cast is Gwyneth Paltrow as Stark’s no-nonsense PA. ★★★★★
