Cruise num­bers rise yet again

New Zealan­ders tak­ing a cruise have yet again reached record num­bers. Last year 65,609 New Zealan­ders took a cruise – a 10.6 per cent in­crease on the pre­vi­ous year. Re­sults from the Cruise In­dus­try Source Mar­ket Re­port New Zealand 2014 were re­leased by the Cruise Lines In­ter­na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion (CLIA) Aus­trala­sia gen­eral man­ager Brett Jar­dine at The Lang­ham Auck­land. New Zealand, he said, was the third fastest grow­ing cruise pas­sen­ger mar­ket in the world, af­ter Aus­tralia and France. The num­ber of New Zealand cruise pas­sen­gers have more than dou­bled over the past five years, with an av­er­age an­nual growth rate of 17.3 per cent since 2009.
