Cruise numbers rise yet again
New Zealanders taking a cruise have yet again reached record numbers. Last year 65,609 New Zealanders took a cruise – a 10.6 per cent increase on the previous year. Results from the Cruise Industry Source Market Report New Zealand 2014 were released by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia general manager Brett Jardine at The Langham Auckland. New Zealand, he said, was the third fastest growing cruise passenger market in the world, after Australia and France. The number of New Zealand cruise passengers have more than doubled over the past five years, with an average annual growth rate of 17.3 per cent since 2009.
