Qantas is to partner with American Airlines on the Auckland to Los Angeles route from 25 June. This will be a return to this market for American Airlines, who were last in New Zealand 24 years’ ago. Out for the special fare announcement at the Seafarers Screening Room in Auckland were airline executives from Japan, Hong Kong and Sydney. The newly appointed Qantas New Zealand, South America and the Pacific Islands general manager Wez Nobelius was also in attendance.

The special economy fare of $799 return Auckland to Los Angeles was just a short lived two-day offer for bookings made on 30 March to 1 April. “We are excited to be back in New Zealand,” said American Airlines vice president Asia Pacific, Erwan Perhirin.

Unique features on the American Airlines service will be wifi throughout the cabin, a walk-up bar in Business Class, a Main Cabin Extra Class [48 seats with additional leg room] plus pyjamas in Business Class.
