Travel Digest - - AIR LINES -

Another Middle Eastern airline is to fly into and out of Auckland, with Qatar Airways flying daily to Dohar from February 2017 (originally planned for December 2016, but delayed due to aircraft deliveries). The flight will be the longest flight in the world at 17 hours and 45 minutes on a 777 200 LR plane, said Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker. He said the airline has 30 new aircraft on order, which will add to the current fleet of 183 aircraft. Asked about opening a local office, Mr Al Baker said: “Most certainly we will be opening an office in Auckland.”
