Creative hub opening doors

A creative hub is throwing open its doors for a fun-filled gala this Saturday.

Wallaceville Playcentre, Heretaunga Players and the Upper Hutt Arts society are all hosting their open days together, making for a big day out.

‘‘What better way to celebrate our community than getting together and learning about what everyone else is up to?’’ playcentre representative Amy Burrell said.

The playcentre will have a cake stall, face painting, caricatures and balloons as well as a garage sale.

Its play equipment will also be out for kids to try out.

The Upper Hutt Arts Society has been working with the playcentre to to plan a new mural for the back fence of the playground. Plans and initial sketches for the mural will be on display at the open day.

The mural will be completed in the next few months.

In between the playcentre and arts society, friendly faces from the Heretaunga Players will be there to answer questions on their club. The most recent stage set they used will also be on display.

In addition to the three organisations hosting the gala, the Upper Hutt Parents Centre will also be open for the public to learn what they do and how parents can become involved.
