Four delicious, simple smoothies
Smoothies are a great way to start the day as well as up your fruit and vege intake. They’ll also give you a good boost of vitamins and minerals in something that’s easy to drink.
BANANA, DATE AND NUT SMOOTHIE
2 bananas (pre-frozen) 6-8 medjool dates, stones removed and roughly chopped
cup almonds, roughly chopped A good pinch ground cinnamon 2 cups milk (cow’s, almond, or soy) Tip: if you don’t have frozen bananas, use fresh bananas and a small handful of ice cubes.
Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
To serve, pour into glasses.
BLUEBERRY AND KIWI SMOOTHIE
cup blueberries 1 kiwifruit, peeled 1 cup coconut water 2-3 mint leaves (optional)
cup ice cubes, plus extra to serve Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
To serve, pour into glasses and top with extra ice cubes.
STRAWBERRY AND BANANA SMOOTHIE
1 banana (pre-frozen) 5 medium-sized strawberries
teaspoon vanilla essence or extract cup natural yoghurt cup milk (cow’s, almond, or soy) 1 tablespoon ground LSA 1 teaspoon runny honey (optional) Tip: if you don’t have frozen bananas, use fresh bananas and a small handful of ice cubes.
Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. To serve, pour into glasses.
MANGO AND ALMOND SMOOTHIE
1 ripe mango, peeled, flesh roughly chopped 1 cup milk (cow’s, almond, or soy) cup natural yoghurt 1 tablespoon ground almond tablespoon honey cup ice cubes Combine mango, milk, yoghurt, ground almond, honey and ice cubes in a blender and pulse until smooth. To serve, pour into glasses and top with extra ice cubes.
