Winter has well and truly arrived, with night time temperatures about to dip into single digits.

Queen’s Birthday Monday, though a little chilly, is set to be a glorious day - according to the weather forecast.

It should be perfect for a BBQ at the beach.

And an ideal time to tour around the island’s artists’ studios and galleries.

They will be open from June 3 to 5, as part of this year’s Winter Arts Festival.

If you buy a $20 ticket from the Waiheke Community Art Gallery for the tour, it includes entry to a wine and cheese soiree on Sunday.

There’s also live music to enjoy for free at the Oyster Inn on Sunday, when Sarah-jane Limbrick will be singing some cool jazz with The Silverblue Set.

Or how about popping in to catch some blues at Aperativo’s free mini ‘pop-up’ festival over the weekend?

You can’t say we’re not spoilt for choice.
