Waiheke SPCA will be called WISCA, Waiheke Island Society for the Care of Animals, from November 1. The SPCA committee received lots of creative entries in its competition for a new name. Kate Sumner came up with the winning name and won a $50 op shop voucher. Sophie Lewis won a $25 op shop voucher for her work on logos. The island SPCA has chosen to break away from the national SPCA organisation, rather than accept a national takeover bid.
