A pub­lic meet­ing to dis­cuss in­creased her­bi­cide use in more than 40Wai­heke parks will be held at Surf­dale Hall on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 18, from 5pm to 7pm. Wai­heke Lo­cal Board­mem­bers and Auck­land Coun­cil staff will ex­plain the board’s de­ci­sion to al­low spray­ing and di­rect ap­pli­ca­tion of glyphosate, met­sul­furon and pi­clo­ram in is­land re­serves. In­for­ma­tion will be pro­vided on her­bi­cide ap­pli­ca­tion pro­to­cols to man­age the im­pact on peo­ple, an­i­mals, wa­ter­ways and the coast­line. The meet­ing will pro­vide in­for­ma­tion on eco­log­i­cal restora­tion and an­i­mal pest man­age­ment on the is­land.
