The Red Shed gallery at Palm Beach was packed on Oc­to­ber 7 for the launch of Colin Bear­don’s ex­hi­bi­tion of paint­ings with awai­heke theme. They proved pop­u­lar with lo­cals and vis­i­tors.

Tiny house auc­tion: Vol­un­teers have built a tiny house in the car park at­wai­heke Liv­ing that will be auc­tioned along with art­works to­day from 10am. The auc­tion will raise money for­wai­heke Com­mu­nity Hous­ing Trust to pro­vide af­ford­able ren­tal hous­ing for long ter­mis­land res­i­dents. Gra´in­neog: Wai­heke folk band Grain­neog will play atwild on Wai­heke from 2pm to 4pm ev­ery Sun­day in Oc­to­ber, ex­cept on Labour Week­end when they play on Mon­day. Black­pool stormwa­ter meet­ing: Auck­land Coun­cil’s Healthy­wa­ters is hold­ing a com­mu­nity meet­ing to dis­cuss the draft stormwa­ter catch­ment plan for Black­pool on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 18, from 6pm to 7.30pm at the Old Black­pool School Hall. The Voice karaoke com­pe­ti­tion: Wai­heke RSA is tak­ing en­tries for its singing con­test un­til Oc­to­ber 20. The com­pe­ti­tion starts on Oc­to­ber 28. En­try is $8, first prize $1000.
