National snowboard success forwaiheke teenager
Waiheke’s Ruby Rogers won silver in the Snow Sports NZ Junior Ski and Snowboard National Championships this month.
In the competition at Cardrona, Ruby (16) came second in the giant slalom and half pipe and third in the free ride, putting her in second place overall among the senior girls and in the world rookie tour.
Her brother, Mac Rogers (14), came ninth in his age group in the event from October 2 to 6.
Their mum, Donna Rogers, said the children go to boarding school in Cambridge, but it is still a long haul to the mountains to train.
Waiheke’s Connor Addis (14) came third in the free ride and fourth overall in his age group.
Connor’s sister, Catalina Addis (12), won the North Island Primary and Intermediate Snow Sports Championships for her age group in August.
Waiheke’s Boston Meadows also competed in the nationals.
