Na­tional snow­board suc­cess for­wai­heke teenager

Wai­heke’s Ruby Rogers won sil­ver in the Snow Sports NZ Ju­nior Ski and Snow­board Na­tional Cham­pi­onships this month.

In the com­pe­ti­tion at Cardrona, Ruby (16) came sec­ond in the gi­ant slalom and half pipe and third in the free ride, put­ting her in sec­ond place over­all among the se­nior girls and in the world rookie tour.

Her brother, Mac Rogers (14), came ninth in his age group in the event from Oc­to­ber 2 to 6.

Their mum, Donna Rogers, said the chil­dren go to board­ing school in Cam­bridge, but it is still a long haul to the moun­tains to train.

Wai­heke’s Con­nor Ad­dis (14) came third in the free ride and fourth over­all in his age group.

Con­nor’s sis­ter, Catalina Ad­dis (12), won the North Is­land Pri­mary and In­ter­me­di­ate Snow Sports Cham­pi­onships for her age group in Au­gust.

Wai­heke’s Bos­ton Mead­ows also com­peted in the na­tion­als.
