Talk about the Bay’s birds

Bird-lover Sonny Davis will speak at Birds BoP on Wed­nes­day June 13 about a field trip ex­pe­ri­ence to inspire oth­ers to join the Bay of Plenty branch of Birds NZ.

Birds New Zealand’s youth camps are an op­por­tu­nity for young peo­ple to at­tend a field course for a hands-on ex­pe­ri­ence in han­dling birds, and to de­velop skills in bird ecol­ogy.

This year, the youth camp was at Rak­iura/Ste­wart Is­land and at­tracted 22 young bird­ers.

One of the mem­ber Sonny Davis at­tended thanks to spon­sor­ship by the Bay of Plenty branch of Bird­sNZ.

Sonny will be the guest speaker for the monthly meet­ing of BoP Bird­sNZ in Tau­ranga and will speak about the ad­ven­tures he had on this trip, and re­port on the bir­drelated ac­tiv­i­ties un­der­taken by the group. Bird pho­tographs taken at Rak­iura/Ste­wart Is­land will also be shown dur­ing the evening.

Birds BoP is part of the Or­nitho­log­i­cal So­ci­ety of NZ. Birds New Zealand is about en­joy­ing and study­ing birds. Birds BoP holds evening meet­ings, field trips and bird counts and wel­comes new mem­bers and vis­i­tors.
