Waihi Leader - - News - — Rudy Sas

Yet another game on the road and the Waihi Year 9/10 Colts found themselves off to Fitzroy Park in Hamilton to play Boys’ High.

It was the fifth week in a row they have travelled, the start time though making it a little easier to bear with the game scheduled to kick off at 11.30.

Colts started strong and before long went one up but HBHS quickly equalised. From there Colts scored two more before the break with some dominant displays of good football that deservedly had you leading at the half time whistle 3.1.

In the second half Colts continued to press and score two more goals, one of which was a real beauty scored by Rua, but followed a great build up and well-worked team goal showing again that you are starting to gel as a team. However, with confidence high they took their foot off the gas and let them back into the game and with HBHS scoring three quick goals bringing the score back to 5-4 with 10 minutes to go. It made for a tense close to the game for spectators and coaches. To their credit Colts stepped it up and continued to show their hunger and scored a sixth. HBHS also scored but it wasn’t enough with the final score 6-5.

Reegan Green was the well deserved player of the day. .

Goals were scored by Mason Mouat 2, Rua 1, Rahira Parker 1 Reegan green 1 and Dylan Gibson 1. Thank you to Gary Ewing for reffing, and to all the travelling parents.
