The Waihi Lions Club had us “All Shook Up” with their outstanding Charity Dinner. The event took place on Saturday 29 September, with proceeds generously being donated to the St John Building Fund. The teamwork that went on behind the scenes was exceptional, months of planning and preparation resulted in a fantastic night for those who were able to attend. Held at the Waihi Beach Community Centre, teams of volunteers worked together to deliver the food, beverages and provide the service, they also transformed the venue to be fit for the King (of Rock’ n’ Roll). Elvis’ greatest hits filled the dance floor and provided additional entertainment throughout the night alongside the jam-packed programme. Auction and raffle prizes won on the night included First Aid Kits, Fishing Trips and Lions Hours – to get those odd jobs done! We are very fortunate in Waihi to have businesses, organisations and individuals who contribute so generously to St John. “A Big Hunk of Love” and thanks, to all those that helped make this event so successful.
