Security reminder following burglary

Waihi Leader - - News -

Waihi Police are encouraging residents to be mindful of security following a recent burglary in the town.

Last Thursday night, a man was reported entering a residential property at 9pm as the occupants were asleep.

When they woke, the man fled through an open window.

Police conducted a scene examination the next day and said they have identified strong lines of enquiry.

Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen Ambler says windows and doors need to be locked at night.

“This incident is an important reminder for everyone to ensure that, as the weather gets warmer, security remains front of mind and windows are secured at night,” he said.
