Photographers show off work
Members of the Katikati Photographers group are showing their photographs at the Harry Maddox Gallery.
The work reflects the diversity of the group, from amateurs to semi-professionals and includes landscapes, portraits and macro photography.
The group, which formed nearly a year ago, meets once a month and has 47 members in Waihi Beach, Katikati to Tauranga. Nine of them are showing their work, with most of it for sale.
Group founder and Katikati photographer Jo Bryant says she wanted to showcase local talents.
“There is such a diversity in this group, different types of photography.
“Our youngest member is about 15 and the oldest is 90-years-old,” she says.
Jo says the group started after a photographer said to her he was tired of travelling to Tauranga to the Photographic Society there, to meet likeminded people.
“I feel it is good for the community to know there is a local group around to join.”
The exhibition came up after gallery owners Suzanne Ball and Drupe Gilmer had a cancellation and offered the group to show their work instead.
The display will end at noon on Saturday, October 13.
