Award for on­line cam­paign

Des­ti­na­tion Coro­man­del has been awarded the inau­gu­ral Re­gional Tourism New Zealand Award for On­line Per­for­mance.

The des­ti­na­tion mar­ket­ing or­gan­i­sa­tion pro­motes Hau­raki and Thames Coro­man­del Dis­tricts to vis­i­tors via “The Coro­man­del — good for your soul” brand.

The win­ners of the Re­gional Tourism New Zealand’s inau­gu­ral awards were an­nounced at a cock­tail func­tion in Auck­land late last month to an au­di­ence of Re­gional Tourism Or­gan­i­sa­tions from around the coun­try.

This award recog­nises Des­ti­na­tion Coro­man­del as the RTO with the strong­est over­all re­sults in two key ar­eas of on­line mar­ket­ing per­for­mance — or­ganic search traf­fic and on­line video au­di­ence.

Des­ti­na­tion Coro­man­del’s Mar­ket­ing Man­ager Me­gan Nunn says ef­fec­tive dig­i­tal mar­ket­ing is cru­cial to the suc­cess of any vis­i­tor des­ti­na­tion.

“Hav­ing a strong dig­i­tal plat­form al­lows us to com­pete with big­ger des­ti­na­tions that are bet­ter re­sourced. We’re very grate­ful to RTNZ for the recog­ni­tion. Our dig­i­tal chan­nels, par­tic­u­larly theco­ro­man­del.com are a re­sult of years of hard work from the team and we’re de­lighted with the win.”

“Our cur­rent Take it Easy — Hau­raki Rail Trail cam­paign, launched in mid Septem­ber, is a good ex­am­ple of mar­ket­ing ac­tiv­ity di­rectly in­flu­enc­ing trav­ellers’ be­hav­iour.

“Al­ready we’ve at­tracted on­line vis­i­tors to re­search our tourism prod­ucts, then they have gone on to book an ex­pe­ri­ence in The Coro­man­del.”
